Two pieces, one decision

Rowan is a set for people who want the whole thing sorted in one go — a roomy short-sleeve top and a pair of loose shorts, cut from the same cotton so they wash and wear at the same rate. Nothing here is fitted, and nothing needs adjusting in the night.

The top sits away from the body with a clean neckline and a straight hem that stays put when you stretch out. The shorts sit low and easy on a flat drawstring, and the leg is cut long enough that it does not ride up when you turn over.

Do the top and shorts size together?

Yes — the set is cut as one size, so the top and the shorts are matched. You choose one size and both pieces arrive in it, which is the point of buying them together rather than as two separate things.

The cut is relaxed throughout. If you want a closer line, take your usual size. If you prefer more drape, or you move around a lot in your sleep, take the size up — the shorts stay where they are either way, because the drawstring decides that.

• Measure your chest at the fullest point, standing relaxed.
• For the shorts, check your hip measurement — the leg hangs from there rather than from the waist.
• The set is cut as one size, so the chest figure decides it and the drawstring covers the rest.

Why the drawstring is flat

A flat drawstring knots neatly and lies against the waist rather than digging into it, which matters if you sleep on your front. It also means the knot does not work loose in the night the way a round cord can.

The cotton is a mid-weight one — lighter than Harbour, with more body than Coast — so the shorts hold their shape rather than clinging, and the top keeps its line through the shoulder after a wash.

• Wash both pieces together, cool, on a gentle cycle, with colours that match.
• Line dry or dry flat. Keep the set away from the tumble dryer.
• A low iron if you want the neckline crisp. No bleach.

The set is dispatched from our warehouse. Your confirmation email arrives first, followed by a dispatch message. The estimated delivery window for your address is confirmed at checkout before payment.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, consumers across Europe can cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods. You do not need to give a reason.

• Write to us first, then post both pieces back within 14 days of telling us.
• Top and shorts must come back unworn and unused, with tags attached.
• You cover return postage unless we agree otherwise, and the refund is made to the original payment method.

The two things people ask

Can I wear the top and shorts separately?

Plenty of people do — the top works as a short-sleeve sleep shirt on its own, and the shorts are cut on the same lines as the rest of the lounge range. They are bought as a set because the fabric and the colour match.

Will the set shrink?

Cotton can move on a hot wash. Wash the set cool, dry it flat or on a line, and the fit stays where it started. We do not quote shrinkage figures, because we only publish what is confirmed for each piece.

Is the shorts leg long enough to stay put?

The leg is cut to sit mid-thigh and the drawstring holds the waist, so the shorts do not ride up when you stretch out. If you want more length through the leg, take the size up.
