Where to start with cotton

Alba is the set to reach for when the room is warm and you want as little fuss as possible. The top sits away from the body on a clean neckline, the shorts pull on without a zip or a button, and the waistband is soft enough to sleep in without noticing it.

It is cut generously at the hip, which is what keeps it comfortable when you turn over. Both pieces are made from the same cotton, so they wash and wear at the same rate and the colour stays matched.

Two pieces, one size

The set is cut as a single size — you choose one and both pieces arrive in it. The top is roomy rather than fitted, and the shorts sit on a soft elastic waistband, so the size that matches your chest is normally the size that works for both.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. A set that is slightly loose sleeps better than one that is slightly tight, and the shorts have enough give in the waistband that the extra width does not show.

• Measure your bust or chest over light clothing, with the tape level and not pulled tight.
• Take your hip measurement as well, because the shorts sit from the hip rather than the waist.
• Both pieces come in the one size you choose, so pick the size that fits the larger of the two figures.

Cotton that settles in

This is a soft, mid-light cotton that starts comfortable and gets softer with washing. It has a little natural give, so it moves with you rather than holding a crease, and it dries reasonably quickly for a cotton set.

• Wash the top and shorts together on a cool, gentle cycle. Keep them with similar colours.
• Line dry or dry flat rather than in a tumble dryer, which stiffens cotton.
• Iron on a low setting if you want the neckline crisp. Skip the bleach.

Packing, posting, sending back

The set is packed and dispatched from our warehouse. A confirmation email follows your order, and another goes out when the parcel leaves us. Your estimated delivery window is confirmed at checkout before you pay.

Consumers across Europe can cancel within 14 days of receiving the set, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and no reason is required.

• Let us know in writing and return the set within 14 days.
• Both pieces, unworn and with the tags still on.
• Your cost to return unless we agree otherwise; the refund goes back to the original payment method.

Questions before you order Alba

Can the top and shorts be worn separately?

They can — the top works on its own as a short-sleeve sleep shirt, and the shorts are cut on the same lines as the rest of the lounge range. The set is sold together because the fabric and colour match.

Will the colour run in the wash?

Wash the set cool with similar colours and the shade stays where it started. As with any cotton, hot water is what moves both the fit and the colour, so keep it out of a hot wash.

Is the waistband tight enough to stay up?

It is a soft elastic waistband rather than a drawstring, so it holds without marking. The shorts are cut to sit at the hip — if you prefer them higher, the next size up sits slightly differently.
