Guide

Size & care guide

Two things decide whether sleepwear works: whether it fits, and how you wash it. This page covers both — measure once, then follow the care label on the garment you receive.

How to measure

Measure over light clothing, keep the tape level, and do not pull it tight. Write the numbers down — you only need to do this once, and then you can compare them against any piece in the range.

  • Chest or bust — around the fullest point, keeping the tape level all the way round.
  • Waist — around the narrowest part of your middle, relaxed, not held in.
  • Hip — around the fullest point, usually about 20cm below the waist.
  • Height — useful if you are deciding between two lengths.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one for sets and nightdresses. Sleepwear should never feel tight across the chest or waist, and a little extra room does not change how it looks.

Choosing your size

Every product page carries the fit notes for that piece — how it is cut, where it sits and how to measure for it. Use those notes as your reference, because they describe the garment you are actually buying rather than a general chart.

Two fit notes worth knowing before you choose:

  • Everything in the range is a relaxed cut. If you want a closer line, take your usual size; if you prefer more drape, take the size up.
  • Cotton has a little natural give and will soften with washing. It should feel comfortable from the first wear rather than needing to be broken in.

Men’s and women’s cuts

The two lines are cut differently rather than being the same garment in two colourways. The women’s pieces have more room through the bust and hip; the men’s pieces are straighter through the shoulder and chest. Because everything is loose rather than fitted, many customers wear across both lines — choose by measurement and the fit you prefer.

Washing

Cotton sleepwear lasts far longer with a gentle routine than with a hot wash. The care label on your garment is the authoritative instruction for that piece; these are the general rules that apply across the range:

  • Wash at a low temperature on a gentle cycle.
  • Wash with similar colours, especially the first few times.
  • Do not bleach, and do not use harsh stain removers.
  • Skip the tumble dryer where you can — heat is what distorts cotton.
  • Dry flat or on a line, in the shade, away from direct heat.
  • Iron on a low setting if needed, and never directly over any print or trim.

Where the care label and this page differ, follow the label — it is written for the specific fabric and construction of that garment.

Keeping its shape

Most sleepwear loses its shape in the dryer, not in the wash. Drying flat rather than hanging by the shoulders also helps a garment keep its line, particularly with robes and nightdresses where the weight of damp fabric can pull the shoulders out of shape.

Store folded rather than on hangers where you can, and give cotton a little time to settle after drying before you judge the fit.

Exchanges and returns

If a size is not right, that is straightforward to sort out. Consumers across Europe can cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and returns should be sent back within 14 days of telling us.

Full practical detail — including how to start a return and what condition items should be in — is on the delivery & returns page. If you would rather check before ordering, email us and we will help you choose.
